One of the best things about being at UTSA is the sports. Since arriving on that campus, I’ve been in the athletics department in one way or another. One of the coolest things I get to do, though, is take pictures of the UTSA Men’s Basketball team. It’s one thing to watch the games, it’s another to see them through my end of the lens. Being a former athlete myself, action shots have always seemed really natural to me. It’s like being back on the court – trying to anticipate what people are going to do and all that.
This weekend I had the really cool opportunity to shoot UTSA’s parent/child basketball camp. I’ve been watching these camps happen for about three years now and it is by far one of my absolute favorites. The way these kids light up when they watch their parents is a pleasure I never knew I wanted to witness. It doesn’t hurt that the parents get really into it, too. All and all, it’s a really cool experience to be around… but even better to shoot!
Parents, I did my best to catch every single one of the kids out there. There was a lot going on, so who knows. I also tried to catch the parents with their kids as much as possible.
Take a look at the action below. This was a fun one!
