If you don’t work in college athletics, you wouldn’t know that this is the busiest time of the year for those of us that do work in the business. There are so many things going on throughout September and into October. The fall sports are in the biggest push of their season and the in between sports, like my beloved Men’s Basketball, is just getting started with their actual practices. In other words… it’s crazy around here right now!

One of the best things about this time of the year is that crazy, never ending energy that surrounds campus, the courts, and all of the student-athletes. Especially the basketball boys! These guys have been working hard all summer to get to this point. We’re finally in the part of the year where basketball is on the horizon and every single day brings us closer to the start of the season.

Last weekend, I stood on the sidelines of the last practice of September and documented the occasion. It’s always fun to see how the off season’s work is paying off. It’s always great to see the guys competing harder and faster, trying to get that playing time and make the best impression that they can. Honestly, it’s a blast to watch this team do whatever they’re doing, but you can smell the season coming, and it shows in the pictures you’re going to see below.

I appreciate getting to be a part of this team’s dynamic. One of the best parts of being a part of UTSA is seeing the people I work with on a daily basis do great things in the sport they’re so passionate about. When you look at the pictures below, you’ll be able to pinpoint the passion, hard work, and excitement these guys are exuding.

This is only the beginning, you guys. The closer we get to November, the harder these guys will work, the more competitive they’ll become, and the cooler the pictures get. Keep an eye out for the next practice post to see if you can spot the differences. Little by little, we’ll start to see damn near perfection… and man is it a sight to see.
