Rowdy Jam

For the past couple of years, the UTSA basketball teams have been doing something called Rowdy Jam. It’s basically a fun way for both the Men’s & Women’s teams to show off their skills and entice the student population to come out and support their seasons. It’s a good time and lots of fun things happen throughout. One of the best parts of it for me, as a person who’s seen it a couple of times, was the obvious unity between the two teams. Instead of promoting one over the other, both teams were all about getting people to come out to support basketball in general. As a fan, that would’ve been enough for me!

As it went, this year’s Rowdy Jam was after a pretty cool block party put on by UTSA’s Athletic Department. There was pizza and drinks, free stuff, and a nice sounding band that played a free concert. If you’re at all interested in having something to do that’s got a lot of cool perks, you would’ve enjoyed this event! As the band was packing up, people flowed into the Convo to meet this year’s basketball teams.

Each of the events was so relaxed and really allowed the crowd to get to know the players. The crowd was even serenaded by UTSA Men’s Basketball’s own A-Rod. Both teams scrimmaged against themselves and put up some shots that made the five minutes worth while for the crowd. Then, both the guys and ladies had a couple three point shooters compete against each other for that coveted ‘three-point champion’ title. To finish off the night, the crowd was treated to a dunk contest that Mr. Keaton Wallace ended up taking home the title of.

All and all, it was a good night and a great way to introduce the teams to the UTSA student population. If you’re a UTSA student, basketball games are some of the funnest events you could go to. Totally worth checking out the home games on both the 6th and the 7th.

Check out some of the highlights below! Pay special attention to the smile on all of their faces as they enjoy playing the game they love and interacting with a school they’ll represent throughout their career.

If you missed this event, don’t worry! UTSA Basketball is live and in the depth of its action throughout the entire winter… starting on November 6&7th! You won’t want to miss how both of these teams play throughout their season. It should be a fun and exciting one!
