This was a special game for me. Not only did I get to tag along with the rest of the team, but I got to see a good friend of mine since I was in her home town. It’s so fun to be able to capture the team in lots of different ways, and traveling is one of them. The guys take on a completely different schedule and routine when they’re on the road, and it’s one of the coolest things to see. UTSA Men’s basketball is a well oiled machine when it comes to keeping their stuff together and getting what needs to be done… done.
Corpus Christi isn’t too far from us, so it was fun to drive down alongside the bus and appreciate the other pieces of Texas. I’ve been here for about 8 years now and haven’t ever been. It’s pretty funny… I’m generally a well cultured traveller, but the more I move around the state for photography, the more I realize I haven’t seen nearly as much of this state as I should. It’s always nice to get opportunities to get to do something different, so I’m forever grateful to my UTSA family for always being cool with a secondary tag along.
TAMCC plays their games on top of a hockey rink. It’s a cool stadium that definitely looks like it’s used for a couple different things. The lighting was great and it was nice to see how they had their seating set up to accommodate everyone in attendance. I’m usually one of the home photographers, meaning I stand on the crowded ends of the court. Not this time, though! I got a whole end line to myself to snap pictures the entire evening long. It was nice to be able to stand where I wanted and get the shots I may not always get because of the crowd back home.
As you go through these images, take in how much fun these guys seem to be having. They seem to mesh a whole lot when shots are falling and passes are finding their intended target. I love watching good basketball and they keep on getting better and better.
Enjoy my favorites from UTSA Men’s Basketball’s win against TAMCC!
