Brandon & Southtown Vinyl

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope the week started out great and is shaping up to be a great one. We’re so close to the end of the semester, so my job is winding down for a little while – which means I’m super stoked for the summer and all the vacation I’ve got coming up. That’s for another blog post, though. Today’s is all about vinyl.

I have been a music lover my entire life. I played in the band, have a guitar on hand in my home, and have listened to most genres over and over again. My music taste is eclectic and fueled by my knowledge of music and instruments I learned growing up. When I met Josh, that was the first thing to bring us together. We spent lots of time talking about our favorite bands, and even more time hitting up shows together. So, when I met Brandon and learned about his love of music – I knew we’d be fast friends. We shared internship duties at the end of our undergraduate degrees, and have tried to stay in each other’s lives since then.

When I approached Brandon about pictures, I knew we’d make some kind of magic. When he suggested we hit up a record store and capture the adventure, I knew things were going to be the most fun they possibly could be. Brandon is a gentle person who is fueled by knowledge and his love for the things around him. Watching him explore the records was like watching someone with their favorite toy. They were handled with care, thoroughly perused, and sampled when the fancy struck. I had a blast getting to put some images to the feeling he creates.

A lot of these pictures are of nothing but the records and the turntable. I feel as if music is a complete body experience. One of the best part of vinyl records is the kinesthetic feeling you get when you handle them. You have to gently take them out of their casing, then decide which side is going to spin first. Then, the needle has to be placed onto the vinyl with the utmost care. I thought, as I was spending time with Brandon, that it was important to capture all of his interaction with it. Including his hands searching through records, and playing with the turntable.

More than anything, I hope these pictures will show you the grand nature of vinyl. Josh and I have two turntables in our home and have played many a record upon them. Southtown Vinyl is a cool place – so hop over to check out their selection and get back in tune with the record-style music playing.

Enjoy the adventure!

There you have it! Brandon, thank you for adventuring around this place with us. We love being around people who enjoy the same stuff as us – and music is the greatest link to have! Let’s do it again! If anyone has any interest in a shoot like this, send us a message with the contact form below.

We’re currently discounting our Senior/Graduation sessions by 35%. If you book and schedule your shoot before May, we’ll give you an extra $5 off! My schedule is getting a little crazy, so don’t wait around to reserve a spot and book now. There’s a contact form at the bottom of this post to make that whole process easier.

We’re offering Fiesta photo sessions April 26th (10-3PM). Since there’s not much time between then and now, I’m only opening a few spots to ensure I have enough time to prepare! I’m really excited for these – I think it’ll be really cool to step out of the box and embrace the place around me a little more intimately.

So! If you’re looking to get some Fiesta celebration photos done, look no further! Let’s get colorful and bring the excitement of Fiesta into a singular image. Simply fill out the contact form below, include the date and time you’d like to fill, and I’ll get you on the calendar. Once all eight of the spots are filled, we’ll be booked up and ready to celebrate Fiesta!

Lastly, we’re discounting all other sessions by 20%! I’m stoked to see all the different things that flash before my camera, and can’t wait to see what crosses next.

As always, we want to take a second to thank everyone for tagging along and letting us continue to do what we’re doing. It’s your support that keeps us in the game, and we love and appreciate you all for it!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…
