Allie & The Wonder Chamber!

Happiest of Saturday’s, everyone! It has been a minute since I put up a new adventure, and I’m very excited to share this one with you guys. This adventure was at a new place that was filled with potential photography goodness. I’m hoping that this isn’t the only time I get to frequent this place!

Today’s blog post is all about Allie and the cool little gem of a place she found – The Wonder Chamber. Since I found out about Flower Vault, I’ve taken multiple clients to enjoy all of the different backgrounds and flexibility a place like that affords. When Allie brought up Wonder Chamber, I was so very excited. Anything that’s going to make my creative juices flow is something that I can get behind. As we walked in and looked around, I knew this was going to be one of the coolest shoots I’ve gotten to do!

Allie is one of the coolest people I know. Meeting her through Eliza is one of the best things to happen. Between the two of them, there’s almost too much cool for me to fit in! However, both ladies are great models, so I take advantage of how gorgeous they are every chance I can. So, Allie wanting to explore this new and exciting place with me was really cool and I’m so glad we adventured together!

When you go through these photos, I hope you take in all of the different backgrounds – they are creative, extremely unique, and totally different from one another. It makes getting great pictures super easy and brings people out of their shell. By the end, Allie had the biggest grin on her face and seemed to be having the best time. You can tell throughout the pictures how great of a place this is!

Enjoy our Wonder Chamber adventure!

There you have it! Allie, you’re a total gem and I’m so excited to see where life takes you. I also can’t wait to see what other adventures we get to have together. That’s half the fun of being a photographer, getting to have a great time with great people!

If you’re interested in your own session like this, fill out the contact form at the bottom of the page. I would love to go and make my way around this place again. There are still so many things that can be done!

To all my newly engaged couples, we’re offering 15% off ALL of our engagement/wedding packages. That means you’re basically getting your boudoir photos for free! Wedding season is getting busy for me, so make sure you grab this opportunity while you can. I can’t wait to see all you beautiful people on the best days of your lives!

That’s it for now. As always, thanks for sticking around and taking in all that we do around here. It means the most and I wouldn’t get to do all of these fun things without you guys!

Until next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

Kalista & The Historic Pearl

Happy Monday, everyone! One of the best holidays is coming up – which means my sister and niece are in town. They come every year and we have a great time celebrating our freedom and the cool bond of our family. The summer is by far the greatest when it comes to spending time with people you don’t normally get to see & I’m so happy for that!

Today’s blog post is all about my beautiful pal, Kalista. She is a UTSA cheerleader I met through my athletics gig. She was new to the Roadrunner gang, but took it by storm nonetheless. We spent a rainy morning navigating our way around The Pearl – which is beautiful, even with a grey cloudy sky illuminating it. There are so many great photo taking places and the scenery is diverse & rich, which makes for even better final products!

The hour we spent navigating one of San Antonio’s main landmarks was an absolute blast. Kalista has a great personality and loves to smile a gorgeous smile. When she stood in front of the camera, there was no hesitation. It’s so cool to see confidence like that in someone so young! To say it helped the pictures is an understatement – these are chalk full of confidence and self-love!

As you take a look at these, enjoy not only The Pearl’s highlights, but also the way this chick can work the camera! A lot of fun was had and I think it translates directly into the tone of this adventure.

Enjoy some of my favorites!

There you have it! Kalista, thanks for being so easy to shoot & fun to be around. That combination makes my job the absolute best. If you’re ever in town & would like to explore The Pearl with little ole’ me tagging along – let me know, we’ll make some magic!

We’re currently putting on 4th of July mini sessions. I’ll be shooting all the way until 12PM on July 4th, so there’s lots of time to celebrate the holiday! This one is one my favorites, so we put together a cool little backdrop. I’ve added a contact form to the bottom of this post for easy booking!

I also wanted to let everyone know that our fall is getting pretty busy. I’m currently booking through December & will have limited dates once basketball season starts. We’re offering 25% off pre-booked sessions for the fall until the end of July! This is a good deal, so take advantage! I’m so stoked to get to work with everyone & can’t wait to meet all you future clients.

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

Jennifer Ramos – Class of 2019!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope the hump of the week is treating you well. Josh and I take off for our next vacation/work trip on Friday evening and we’re super stoked to get away from Texas and adventure somewhere else! It doesn’t hurt that my sweet little nephew is graduating, and we’ll get to celebrate that accomplishment in person.

Speaking of seniors, today’s blog post is about a graduating senior – Jennifer Ramos. Until getting to campus and getting strapped up, I had not met Jen. We spent a bit of time getting to know one another through text message while we planned out our photoshoot, but we did not meet face to face until the time of our session. It’s cool to shoot friends and people I’ve met before, but it’s another thing to shoot someone completely new. I appreciated the challenge of keeping us both comfortable throughout our shoot. The pictures turned out amazing, and we didn’t miss a beat the entire session – so I’d say it was a success!

As we toured campus, it was easy to see that Jennifer is a completely driven woman. She has a goal in mind and will continue to train and run towards it until she’s accomplished it. I also found out that Jennifer is a long distance runner, much like myself – so it was cool to trade running stories and aspirations while we went from place to place. I’m so stoked to have met you, Jen! Thanks for trusting me with these important memories – I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

Check out our UTSA Campus adventure below!

There you have it! Ms. Jennifer Ramos – here’s to the future. I’m so very happy to have met you and can’t wait to see where your drive and determination takes you. You’re destined for good things, so keep on running!

We have discounted our senior sessions to $75 until UTSA’s graduation date (5/18). My campus sessions have been filled with other seniors and their photographers doing the same thing. It’s such a cool thing to see and I’m stoked to be a part of it. Contact us with the form at the bottom of this page to grab a relatively cheap session!

One last thing! Josh and I’s anniversary is coming up –  so we’re getting excited! To celebrate, we’re discounting all of our sessions by 25%. This won’t last long, so take advantage and help us celebrate the coolest day of our joint lives!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

Arlayna – Class of 2019

Happy Sunday, everyone! It has been a crazy couple days for The Modica’s. We’re currently in Springfield, Missouri – soaking up family time & enjoying the many things this gorgeous place has to offer. May is going to be a blast and this is our starting leg!

Today’s blog post is all about Arlayna! Arlayna is someone I’ve known since my last semester of undergrad. I forgot to take statistics and needed the class to graduate, whereas she was a bright eyed freshman just getting started. After a couple weeks of sitting at the end of her table, I finally leaned over and made a connection. We ended up being in the same presentation group at the end of the semester, securing myself an A in the class. Now, Arlayna is all grown up and finishing up her degrees in Nutrition & Dietetics!

As someone who gets to interact with people being academically successful on a daily basis, it’s pretty cool to see people do good things. Yet, it’s even better when the people doing these great things are people I’ve known for a while – and have seen at several different stages of life. Growing up is measured not just by your successes, but by those around you, too – and it’s cool to see we’ve all done some pretty excellent growing.

Take in the pictures below and enjoy the uniqueness that Arlayna brings to the table. She’s stunning, has the brightest of smiles, and used some of the greatest props I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting. Next time you want to bring an apple to your session, don’t hesitate – it actually looks fantastic!

Congrats, Arlayna – Happy Graduation!

There you have it! Arlayna, we wish you the best of luck. I can’t wait to taste the many creations you bring to the people of the world!

We’re still offering 45% off senior/graduation sessions! Today is the last day to grab this awesome deal. When Josh and I get back from Missouri on the 8th, all of my photography spots are dedicated to senior pictures until we pack up and leave again! Let’s take that victory lap around campus and take some fabulous pictures along the way!

All other sessions have also been discounted – we’re extending our May the 4th Flash Sale one more day. Which means all other sessions are 15% off and will stay that way until 5/8. There is a contact form at the bottom of this post to make for easy booking and question asking!

As always, we appreciate each and every person who stops & takes time to read these words and check out our images. We’re here because of you!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

Senior Sunday – Shane & Zeus

Happy Sunday, everyone! It has been a gorgeous weekend so far, and it looks as if the day is promising to be just the same. Being in Texas during this time of the year, you never know what you’re going to get – but it’s nice when you’re getting the really nice side of the weather around here! And, as a photographer, the amazing weather is an excellent perk to the photoshoots I’ve gotten to take part in.

On the blog today is Shane and his pal Zeus. Josh and Shane have known each other for a while, and when I started to date Josh, I got to be a part of his friendship with Shane. Shane is a veteran and Zeus is his service animal. They’re pals, and it’s awesome to see the two of them around campus. Zeus, when you’re lucky enough to get to pet/interact with him, is super sweet and incredibly protective of Shane. So, it made the most sense to incorporate him into these pictures, too!

I’ve been enjoying doing these senior sessions over the passed few weeks and can’t wait for all the others I have planned! These sessions are filled with people celebrating their accomplishment, and the way people personalize them make shooting so much fun. As a college graduate who had my own unique experience, it’s cool to know that so many others went to the same place, but enjoyed it in their own way.

It also doesn’t hurt that UTSA has a beautiful campus! We’re still got a few sessions open, if you want to explore it with us.

Enjoy our senior pal below! He’s full of spunk and a personality that’s worth knowing!

There you have it! Shane, thanks for celebrating your awesome accomplishment with Josh & I. We can’t wait to see what you bring to the world and end up doing with your many experiences!

I’m so stoked to celebrate with you guys that we’re discounting our sessions by 35%! If you book with us before the end of April, we’ll give you an extra 5% off. I’m not going to be taking on too many more sessions, so book while you still can!

I also need a bit of help! I’m thinking about doing some Mommy & Me sessions in celebration of Mother’s Day. Would anyone be interested in a session like that? They’d be mini sessions, so a much cheaper option! I’ll leave a contact form below to make giving feedback and book more easy!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

Brandon & Southtown Vinyl

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope the week started out great and is shaping up to be a great one. We’re so close to the end of the semester, so my job is winding down for a little while – which means I’m super stoked for the summer and all the vacation I’ve got coming up. That’s for another blog post, though. Today’s is all about vinyl.

I have been a music lover my entire life. I played in the band, have a guitar on hand in my home, and have listened to most genres over and over again. My music taste is eclectic and fueled by my knowledge of music and instruments I learned growing up. When I met Josh, that was the first thing to bring us together. We spent lots of time talking about our favorite bands, and even more time hitting up shows together. So, when I met Brandon and learned about his love of music – I knew we’d be fast friends. We shared internship duties at the end of our undergraduate degrees, and have tried to stay in each other’s lives since then.

When I approached Brandon about pictures, I knew we’d make some kind of magic. When he suggested we hit up a record store and capture the adventure, I knew things were going to be the most fun they possibly could be. Brandon is a gentle person who is fueled by knowledge and his love for the things around him. Watching him explore the records was like watching someone with their favorite toy. They were handled with care, thoroughly perused, and sampled when the fancy struck. I had a blast getting to put some images to the feeling he creates.

A lot of these pictures are of nothing but the records and the turntable. I feel as if music is a complete body experience. One of the best part of vinyl records is the kinesthetic feeling you get when you handle them. You have to gently take them out of their casing, then decide which side is going to spin first. Then, the needle has to be placed onto the vinyl with the utmost care. I thought, as I was spending time with Brandon, that it was important to capture all of his interaction with it. Including his hands searching through records, and playing with the turntable.

More than anything, I hope these pictures will show you the grand nature of vinyl. Josh and I have two turntables in our home and have played many a record upon them. Southtown Vinyl is a cool place – so hop over to check out their selection and get back in tune with the record-style music playing.

Enjoy the adventure!

There you have it! Brandon, thank you for adventuring around this place with us. We love being around people who enjoy the same stuff as us – and music is the greatest link to have! Let’s do it again! If anyone has any interest in a shoot like this, send us a message with the contact form below.

We’re offering Fiesta photo sessions April 26th (10-3PM). Since there’s not much time between then and now, I’m only opening a few spots to ensure I have enough time to prepare! I’m really excited for these – I think it’ll be really cool to step out of the box and embrace the place around me a little more intimately.

Mireya Reyes takes on Eilan

Happy Thursday, everyone! It’s the last work day of the week for me and I’m more than ready for the weekend. I balance a couple different jobs, so my weekends are always filled with photography clients and gorgeous backdrops. I never thought I’d like spreading my job wealth, but I appreciate being able to do work in all sorts of different outlets, in all sorts of different ways.

The blog post today is centered around someone I’ve just recently met. In fact, when she walked up to meet me in front of Ruth’s Chris, that was the very first time we’d ever seen the other. As someone who works with a big range of people, I know it’s always interesting to work with people I know and people I don’t know. From the second we first started talking, I knew this session was going to be awesome.

Mireya is a pom dancer for UTSA and has aspirations of becoming a Dallas Cowboy’s cheerleader. As you go through these pictures, you’ll see she definitely has the looks and determination to do whatever she wants – white boots included! As we moved around the complex, she had ideas for poses that I hadn’t thought of, good input in how she felt about the pictures, and a great sense of humor throughout. It’s like we’d known each other for a long while, not just a few minutes.

Not only is the person in these pictures gorgeous, but the backdrop is amazing, too. Eilan is a hotel/spa/apartment complex that houses a lot of really nice store fronts and restaurants. There are lots of colors and several unique building structures throughout the place, and it’s not even that big! If you ever get the chance to head over there and check it out, I would totally recommend. I’m also not opposed to doing more pictures over there, either! This place would be perfect for a couple’s shoot, or Fiesta pictures!

Check out some of my favorites below!

There you have it! Many thanks to Mireya for being a great model and braving the multiple times we had to reschedule. These turned out amazing and I hope you enjoyed our time together just as much!

UTSA v ODU – Take 2!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope you’re past your Monday blues and onto better things for the week. The end of basketball season is slowly creeping its way towards us, and in the Modica house – it’s kind of bittersweet. We’re both so wrapped up in the team that it’s hard to remember what it’s like to have a weekend that isn’t filled with basketball or Josh on the road. My camera gets a great workout this time of the year, and I wouldn’t change that for anything. I will say, though – I’m looking forward to having a free Saturday!

This game against ODU marked UTSA’s entrance into the C-USA bonus play. They got a little bit of time off to regroup and put themselves back together in a better and more efficient version of themselves. If you were at the last ODU game, you know how much of a fight this game was going to be. As the guys walked onto the court to start the game, you could totally tell they were thinking the same thing – this game is a big one.

For most of the game, both teams were neck and neck. UTSA’s fans have come to town this season and make the convo lively – every single game, so the energy wasn’t missing for a single second. When Gio, Keaton, or Jhivvan make a shot, the band goes wild! They have a chant for each of the guys, and it’s one of the best parts of being at those games. I’m a firm believer that a great crowd gives the home team an extra bit of boost when they need it.

By the end, the guys were right there with the ODU athletes. At the last buzzer, the guys fell short by one point. Regardless, the game was epic and chaotic and amazing all at once. The guys have so much support that they’re proud to be putting their all out on the convo floor. As a photographer, that’s one of the coolest things to catch.

As you go through these, take in the intensity and grit all these guys are portraying. They’re in it to win it and it’s totally apparent to anyone paying any sort of attention. The end of the season prize is near and the dogs are out!

Check out the well fought battle below:
