UTSA v UAB

Happiest of Thursday’s, everyone! It’s game day in The Modica household & that’s always a treat. After getting my week of schoolwork out of the way, I finally got to get behind the computer and play with some pictures. Here’s hoping your day was just as successful as mine ended up being!

Today’s gallery is UTSA’s home battle against UAB. In the past few years, I’ve gotten to see the fellas play against this team in the convo a bunch of times & every time – it’s a pretty epic adventure. This time around was no exception, either. This season in the convo has been pretty rowdy, which always makes watching the game from the sidelines that much more epic. The band is full of the best heckling and the student section is filled with so so so many people. It’s what college is about, really.

Despite the box score not being what we wanted it to be in the end, the fellas put their all out on the court. I think I type that every single time I talk about these guys, but it’s hard not to – it’s pretty apparent. No matter the score, these guys are always fun to watch – they always put on a show and keep the crowd in it until the very end.

As you go through these, get pumped for the first game of bonus play scheduled to start at 6PM CST! Don’t miss out on the last few match ups of the season, y’all. It’s going to come down to the finish.

We’re quickly heading into the warm weather and that comes with blue bonnets and gorgeous flowers! We’re already in the midst of planning our bluebonnet sessions and want to make sure everyone has access to them. So – here we are. All of our bluebonnet sessions are $95, yet packed full of beauty, fun, and lots of excitement. The location we like has so great access to light – & we’re so excited.

We’re also trying to get ahead of senior photos! If you’re a 2020 graduate and want to celebrate your accomplishment for a relatively good price – you’re in the right place! UTSA Men’s Basketball v. UTEP

Happiest of Thursday’s, everyone! Today is one of the only days I get to really relax and I’m taking advantage of that tenfold. It’s always a good day when I get to put together a basketball gallery, so I hope you’re enjoy your day just as much!

Today’s blog post is all about UTSA Men’s Basketball. They’re currently back in my home town of Norfolk, VA preparing to take on ODU – so it’s only appropriate to get a game day gallery put together. Conference play has been a bit of a whirlwind, but today’s gallery was an amazing win at home with a stadium filled with excited fans! There’s nothing like a win in The Convo, y’all – there’s nothing like it.

UTEP is a travel partner, so the week of this game the fellas headed up to El Paso and played The Miners at home, then turned around and took them on at The Convo later that same week. Every year, this game is a push to the finish. The guys work hard to bring home with W and this year wasn’t any different.

As you take a look through these, take in all of the athletic shots that were put up driving down the lane and all of the three-pointers with the opponents hands in their faces. One of the best bits of being on the sideline is getting to see just how tenaciously each of the guys is working.

There you have it! The fellas play tonight out in Norfolk, but you can follow along. Tip off is at 6PM CST, so don’t miss out! We’re slowly creeping up on the end of the season, so there won’t be too many opportunities left.

As Valentine’s Day looms closer, we’ve decided to offer some sessions on THE BIG DAY. Josh mentioned that couples get dressed up beautifully and kids have parties in school – so why not offer the opportunity to get some photos done while they’re dressed to impress. It’s a pretty good idea, so we’ll be offering mini sessions on 2/14 from 11-5. UTSA MBB v Southern Mississippi

Happy Thursday, everyone! This week has been a little hectic, but I finally got some time today to really sit down and get some good photo work done. It feels pretty fantastic to get lost in the work & was completely what I needed. Hope you’re enjoying your day just as much!

Today’s blog post goes hand in hand with UTSA MBB’s game day tonight against North Texas. I like to get up previous conference home games when the fellas are off on the road, so that’s what we’ve got today. The game against Souther Miss was just as fun to edit as it was to shoot. The guys played so fantastically – & it shows in all of the images.

For being the second home conference game of the season, the crowd was pretty intense – & made the game play that much better. There are so many shots where you can see the crowds reaction and it’s just as exciting as the actual play in the shot. Besides getting to experience the atmosphere at each of the games, one of the best bits of the job is getting to see the game from a really excellent perspective.

As you go through these, enjoy the continued intensity that can be seen throughout the gallery of images. It’s dang cool to see the team play well and get to capture all of the good moments. Here’s hoping you enjoy, too!

UTSA v. LA Tech – A Conference Win!

Happiest of Wednesday’s, everyone! It’s a weird sort of week for The Modica’s – Josh is gone with the basketball team and I’m starting my tutoring workshop at the end of the week instead of the beginning like usual. This week the fellas will play Wednesday/Saturday, instead of Thursday/Saturday like their usual schedule. I’m excited to see what a double match-up against UTEP is going to look like.

Today’s post is all about UTSA’s first conference home game against Louisiana Tech. Heading into the game, the guys were two losses into conference and were looking to bring home a win – in all ways they could! We may not be the best road team, but with the school behind the fellas – we’re definitely a killer home team. As the season moves on, there’s a lot more people coming to each of the games and making the crowd presence so exciting. As an athlete, there’s nothing better than having people stand up and cheer for all the good stuff you’re bringing to the game.

This game was anything but boring. The fellas took up a pretty quick lead and kept their foot on the pedal. Both Jhivvan and Keaton put together a killer performance and were nicely rounded out by all of the big guys busting their butts on the court. Though they tried to come back, UTSA kept their foot on LA Tech’s throat and brought home the win.

As you go through these, enjoy all of the different ways points were scored and some of the good offensive movement that lead to great teamwork as well as a big W. It’s a blast standing on the sideline getting these photos & it’s so cool to see how the albums are going to turn out. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking and editing them!

UTSA Men’s Basketball v Texas State!

Happy Thursday, everyone! It’s insane to think that we’re in a completely new year and decade. There were a lot of great things in the last ten years, but I’m so looking forward to the next ten! Here’s hoping the year ended in the best of ways and the new decade started with a bang.

UTSA Men’s Basketball starts their conference play today, so it was only appropriate to pump out one of the many games I’ve shot during the pre-season. I’ve had a great time following the team around, documenting all of the their play thus far and can’t wait to see where conference play takes them. As a photographer, it’s the greatest to get to work on my craft and enjoy all of the perks of being court side watching my very favorite game.

This year, the fellas headed down to Texas State to play the I-35 rivalry game that’s much awaited each season. When we walked into the arena, it seemed like there were more UTSA fans than anything else. In the end, the over abundant presence of all my fellow Roadrunners could be heard loud and proud.

As you go through these, enjoy the tenacity that each guy played with. As the game progressed, the guys built up their confidence and it’s plain to see not only how well they move the ball, but how much fun they’re having while doing it. These were a blast to shoot, so I hope you enjoy them just as much!

UTSA Basketball v. Wiley College

Happiest of hump days, everyone! The Christmas holiday is quickly coming & that means the end of the semester with it. My day job is stupidly busy, which is lots of fun but kind of hectic, too. I’m so very stoked to have my photography to cut into the stress and bring me all the fun!

I figured a nice home win yesterday was a good reason to drop a game gallery. It’s always nice to go back and revisit each of the games after the fact. Initially, I go through and pick out the photos that catch my eye – but when I go back and actually take time to edit the gallery, I go through each shot one by one. In a way, it’s like watching the game all over again. It’s cool to see what memorable plays look like slowed down, or how each of the guys change and progress from game to game.

If you haven’t started coming to the games yet – that’s okay! There’s still a ton of basketball left to play and watch. As the season progresses, each of the games will be more and more intense – which is always a blast to watch. Either way, you can check back here and get all the updates you need.

As you go through these, I hope you enjoy how excited the guys are when they’re playing well. You can see the joy of playing the game on their faces – on top of the intensity, of course. Not only do they look happy playing, but they won a game in their orange jerseys!

Sunshine Slam – Game #3 v. Delaware

Happiest of Tuesday’s, everybody! I’m hoping that everyone is enjoying the time leading up to the holiday with family and friends. The end of the week is when the craziness begins, so enjoy the calm while you can! As for the Modica’s, we’re enjoying all of the holiday and then some.

Today’s blog is all the final game in UTSA’s performance in the Sunshine Slam against Delaware. These are probably the best of the bunch in my opinion – mainly because I love shooting these fellas in their white jerseys. Regardless of that, the game was one of the better of the bunch, too! There are plenty of cool three point shots in this group of photos.

Despite not getting the results they wanted in Orlando, all of the games were good learning opportunities nonetheless – & I don’t mean just for the guys. Every time I get to shoot, I feel like I’m learning something completely new. The best angle for these shots was sitting on the floor – so I needed to figure out the best way to do that with the angle I like to shoot and my height. It was a lot of fun, to say the least.

As you go through these, enjoy how laid back the guys seem to be in them. Out of all three games, they seemed to be more at ease in their game play than all the rest.

There you have it! I’m really stoked to have gotten to shoot in Orlando with the team. It’s always cool to see all the behind the scenes as well as capture what these fellas are good at. We’re getting to the peak of the season, so you’ll see lots more of this team – so check back soon!

Sunshine Slam – Game #2 v. Oakland

Happiest of Monday’s, everyone! I hope the weekend was everything you were hoping for and the week treats you as well as you’d like it to. It’s the best time of the year for the business and one of the funnest for me as a holiday lover – so I’ve been soaking in as much as I possibly can. We’re quickly closing in on the heart of basketball season – so get ready!

Today you guys are getting Game #2 of the Sunshine Slam in Orlando. While the fellas are in Utah taking on Utah State, I figured what better time to drop this blog? It’s always cool to go through the games after the fact and see all of the awesome action that actually happened. Despite the result, the action is where it’s at.

This game was one of the toughest I’ve ever gotten to shoot, too. These fellas were hustling left and right, being aggressive, and putting work into every single point. There was so much aggression that the refs were calling stuff all over the place. (It wasn’t always the correct call – but who am I to judge?) Regardless, these dudes didn’t stop putting effort into the game until the last second.

As you go through these, pay special attention to their facial expressions. While they aren’t always the most flattering, you can see the grit and tenacity in each of the guys. It’s such a pleasure to get to capture athletes in action, so I hope you enjoy!
