Happiest of Thursday’s, everyone! It’s game day in The Modica household & that’s always a treat. After getting my week of schoolwork out of the way, I finally got to get behind the computer and play with some pictures. Here’s hoping your day was just as successful as mine ended up being!

Today’s gallery is UTSA’s home battle against UAB. In the past few years, I’ve gotten to see the fellas play against this team in the convo a bunch of times & every time – it’s a pretty epic adventure. This time around was no exception, either. This season in the convo has been pretty rowdy, which always makes watching the game from the sidelines that much more epic. The band is full of the best heckling and the student section is filled with so so so many people. It’s what college is about, really.

Despite the box score not being what we wanted it to be in the end, the fellas put their all out on the court. I think I type that every single time I talk about these guys, but it’s hard not to – it’s pretty apparent. No matter the score, these guys are always fun to watch – they always put on a show and keep the crowd in it until the very end.

As you go through these, get pumped for the first game of bonus play scheduled to start at 6PM CST! Don’t miss out on the last few match ups of the season, y’all. It’s going to come down to the finish.

There you have it! The fellas are about to hit the court, so make sure you tune in where you can. The guys come back home on Sunday at 2PM – be there!

We’re quickly heading into the warm weather and that comes with blue bonnets and gorgeous flowers! We’re already in the midst of planning our bluebonnet sessions and want to make sure everyone has access to them. So – here we are. All of our bluebonnet sessions are $95, yet packed full of beauty, fun, and lots of excitement. The location we like has so great access to light – & we’re so excited.

We’re also trying to get ahead of senior photos! If you’re a 2020 graduate and want to celebrate your accomplishment for a relatively good price – you’re in the right place! Until 3/17 we’re offering our senior sessions for $135! This is the cheapest these will be until literal days before graduates are set to walk – so don’t miss out!

Lastly, we’re so happy you guys are here. This is the most fun and enjoyment I’ve been able to get out of my adult life and it’s all because of the people that support us in this adventure. It’s amazing to get to do this day in and day out, so thank you for booking sessions, checking out our photos, and simply liking what we do.

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

UTSA Men’s Basketball v. UTEP

Happiest of Thursday’s, everyone! Today is one of the only days I get to really relax and I’m taking advantage of that tenfold. It’s always a good day when I get to put together a basketball gallery, so I hope you’re enjoy your day just as much!

Today’s blog post is all about UTSA Men’s Basketball. They’re currently back in my home town of Norfolk, VA preparing to take on ODU – so it’s only appropriate to get a game day gallery put together. Conference play has been a bit of a whirlwind, but today’s gallery was an amazing win at home with a stadium filled with excited fans! There’s nothing like a win in The Convo, y’all – there’s nothing like it.

UTEP is a travel partner, so the week of this game the fellas headed up to El Paso and played The Miners at home, then turned around and took them on at The Convo later that same week. Every year, this game is a push to the finish. The guys work hard to bring home with W and this year wasn’t any different.

As you take a look through these, take in all of the athletic shots that were put up driving down the lane and all of the three-pointers with the opponents hands in their faces. One of the best bits of being on the sideline is getting to see just how tenaciously each of the guys is working.

There you have it! The fellas play tonight out in Norfolk, but you can follow along. Tip off is at 6PM CST, so don’t miss out! We’re slowly creeping up on the end of the season, so there won’t be too many opportunities left.

As Valentine’s Day looms closer, we’ve decided to offer some sessions on THE BIG DAY. Josh mentioned that couples get dressed up beautifully and kids have parties in school – so why not offer the opportunity to get some photos done while they’re dressed to impress. It’s a pretty good idea, so we’ll be offering mini sessions on 2/14 from 11-5. These are going to be loads of fun, fast (20 minutes), and a great way to kick off a great evening with the people you love. Fill out the comment card below to grab a time!

We’re also in the works of putting together some bluebonnet sessions. If you’re interested in these, or have a good place that you know has these beauties in surplus, let us know! Spring in San Antonio is one of the best times for photos, so we’re excited to start shooting in the gorgeous weather coming up.

Lastly, we want to thank each and every person reading this right now. We get to live our dream and it’s because people support us by reading the blog, scheduling sessions, and checking out our photos. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

Holly Miller – Volleyball Action Portraits!

Happiest of Wednesday’s, guys! It has been a crazy week already, and it’s getting more Rowdy because you guys are getting 3 posts in a row! I’ve been on an editing frenzy and I’m pretty excited about it. It’s so nice to be able to get into my creative feels and just go with it.

Today’s blog is all about Ms. Holly Miller. I’ve known Holly since she was a little girl, her older sister Aundrea is one of my oldest friends. So, when we met to do these pictures, I was dumbfounded by how much she’s grown and how beautiful of a person she’s actually become. It doesn’t hurt that she’s insanely athletic, either.

During this session, I got to combine my love of action photography with some portraiture. I’m always trying to hone in on my craft, so getting to shoot these was an absolute blast. We did some posed action, portraits, and even some movement shots. There’s nothing like putting sports and art together, y’all. Holly is so photogenic and went with everything I threw at her – so these photos are pretty spectacular in that aspect!

As you go through these, I hope you enjoy the dynamic of the photos. Holly’s beauty contrasts the intensity of the sport very nicely – so I hope you enjoy!

There you have it! Holly, thank you for being the perfect subject. I had a blast shooting and editing these, and they turned out beautifully. Please come at me for more shoots like this! If you’re an athlete and want some portraits done, let’s have an adventure!

We’re currently booking our full length fall sessions. These are a blast and we’ve got a couple of really gorgeous locations that have been working so nicely for these sessions. It’s such an exciting time that these sessions are at a really great price! Until 11/1, we’ll be booking sessions at this same price – so don’t miss out!

Looking ahead, we’re also booking our Grinch Christmas sessions. Josh has been kind enough to agree to dress up like the Grinch and interact with you guys with his best “Grinchisms”. These will be mini sessions at least one day of the weekend every weekend in November/December. If you’re interested in more details or want to book a session, use the contact form below to send a message. I’m in the process of working on our previews, so you’ll know what our setup is going to look like within the next few days!

Lastly, we want to thank you guys! We wouldn’t be anywhere near the place we’re at without the continual support of people who book us, view our photos, or simply catch our journey whenever they can. Without everyone, I’d be so far away from this dream of mine – so thank you!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

UTSA MBB – 9/22

Happiest of Tuesday’s, everyone! I’m finally getting to catch up on some of my edits, so you guys get two posts in less than two days. I always try and filter myself, but sometimes – I’ve got to get my work up, I have to share it! Here’s hoping you guys are feeling as productive as I have over the passed couple of days.

Today’s blog post is all about my pals on UTSA Men’s Basketball. Little by little, we’re slowly inching to the start of the season. It’s like we’ve been waiting with our breaths held in the Modica household. It’s slow and steady, but once season is upon us, it’s a whirlwind. It’s nice to be wrapped up in it, though. I’ve gotten so many sneak peeks of what these guys are capable of that I’m so very excited to see what the season holds!

These photos are from one of the earliest practices of the “season”. Which means there’s still a lot of dynamic stuff going on – ball handling, heavy duty scrimmages, and simple play running. These are the types of practices where I can really work on my craft. There are so many different things happening, it’s hard to keep up!

As you go through these, pay special attention to the tenacity these guys are putting into their sport. It’s crazy to see so many people in one place focused on the same exact thing. Either way, catch out the action below!

** Fellas, if you want these photos – reach out! I’d love to send you an actual copy instead of seeing you guys share a screenshot. **

There you have it! Keep checking back for more UTSA Men’s Basketball updates. I’ve got a couple more galleries in the works as we speak! If you’re interested in action shots for your team or athlete, contact us! We’d love to work with as many teams/athletes as possible.

We’re currently booking our Halloween/Fall themed mini sessions. I posted a few examples of the backdrop in the last post on the blog, so if you’re interested and wander what these photos might look like, click on the link here.

These Halloween/Fall themed mini sessions are taking place on October 13th and 27th between 10-2. When you book, we’ll let you know where we’re going to set up on each of the dates. Each session is thirty minutes in length and comes with all the best edits from our time together. We’re finishing off this package with a printed 5×7 of your choice! That means you’re getting pretty close to a full sessions worth of things at a discounted rate.

These sessions can be used for costume reveals, fall goodness, or simply because you like the scarecrow! We’re so excited to get these dates out to you guys, we’re not passing up an adventure with anyone! These are first come first serve, so once the date and time have been booked, I’ll cross them out and they will no longer be available. To make sure you get the date and time you’d like, we’re asking for a small deposit before the date and the rest when you come for your session!

These are the times you can choose from on either of the dates (10/13 & 10/27):

10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30

Use the contact form below or send us a message to grab your time and date! If these times get filled up quickly, I may look into adding another date with more times, so be on the lookout for that!

We’re still booking our full fall sessions as well, so please don’t hesitate to reach out for those sessions, either. We’ve been loving our adventures around Cibolo Nature Center and can’t wait for the ones to come!

As always, thank you for hanging with us. We’re so very grateful for how things are going and how many people read along, comment, and book with us. It’s truly amazing!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

UTSA V-BALL v. Houston

Happiest of Thursday’s, everyone! We are so close to the weekend, you can almost taste it. It’s going to be a jam packed one for me, between a few portrait sessions and all the UTSA Athletics goodness happening. I can’t wait and I know Josh is looking forward to all the running around we’ll be doing.

I’m putting something a little new on the blog today! It’s definitely not weird to see action shots, but I got to incorporate a whole new sport into my repertoire. Its been a bit since I played the actual sport, yet I was reminded last week just how much I really love volleyball. It was cool to be down on the floor so close to all the action – watching the hitters do their thing was most excellent!

I took in two of the three home games last week and both were hard fought battles. It’s crazy to think that one or two rallies is the difference between a win and a loss. I appreciated watching all the different positions and learning how best to capture the shot. As the season progresses, I’m pretty stoked to move around and see what my range for the sport really is.

I hope you enjoy my take on the intense action of UTSA Volleyball. Between the sprawling an immense air each of these ladies managed to achieve, there’s lots of action to go around!

There you have it! Their game against Maryland will be up within the next week or so, and I’m stoked to catch more of this awesome sport. Ladies, you’re each insanely talented at what you do!

Check back tomorrow for some more UTSA Athletics goodness. I’ll be posting the Women’s Soccer game against USF to hype everyone up for their match tomorrow evening!

We’re currently booking our fall mini sessions and I’m pretty excited about them. A week or two ago, I had one of my favorite little ladies come out and model our backdrop and it’s gorgeous! These mini sessions are $140 and 30 minutes. You will receive all the best edits from our session. Our minis are quick, full of fun, and capture the best memories. If you’re interested in a shorter session for a good price, we’ll be booking these mini sessions from now until 11/1. From that point, I’ll be completely focused on Christmas sessions and basketball season – so don’t wait to book!

On that note, I am quickly running out of weekdays/weekends that are free for sessions. If you’d like to secure a spot before the new year, please reach out soon! I can’t wait to work with all you lovely people and would hate to have to turn people away. You can book a session in December now, just to make sure you get a spot on our schedule! To sweeten the deal, we’re offering 10% off our fall minis and Christmas card sessions. Use the contact form below to grab a spot before I close booking for the year!

Lastly, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone keeping up with us. This is my dream and it’s slowly coming to life because of all the great people that read the blog, book a session, or simply click on our photos on social media. This couldn’t be done without you guys, and I’m so pleased to have such amazing people in my life! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

Dancing Queens – Opelika Edition!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! The hump of the weekend is never the greatest, but we’re one step closer to the weekend – and there’s never anything wrong with that. I’ve got another action packed weekend ahead of me, so I’m looking forward to the end of the work week!

Today’s blog is all about my sweet niece and her two beautiful friends. I didn’t do any dancing growing up, but I’ve shot enough of Tori’s adventure to know it’s demanding, but also very fun. These ladies all showed up in their favorite costumes and we made the most of the beautiful scenery around us. I even made them get up and move – and those shots are some of the best in the bunch.

Every time we make a trip back to Alabama, I get to explore more and more of the scenery. Though we’d been to downtown Opelika before, we got to explore a couple new parts of it and find some gorgeous places to shoot the next time around. The best part of this job is the adventure I get to take – and this shoot was no exception. Between the costumes, well planned outfits, and stunning expressions – these are some of my very favorite.

As you go through these, I hope you enjoy the uniformity in all the chaos. Though they’re wearing different colors and each girl looks so drastically different, there’s a sense of order within the photos. We had a great time playing around with organization and posing – both the tall girls and short Georgia making it a total blast!

There you have it! I have the best time shooting friends – they always know exactly what to do and have no problems snuggling up close with each other. That makes for the best pictures! If you and your bestie are looking to do some photos, let’s have an adventure!

I’ve had some people already reach out for December graduation photos, and I love that! It makes it easier for me to include everyone in the process. Since I love this setup so much, I’m offering senior photo sessions at the mini session price until my birthday on Monday, September 9th. Use the contact form below if you’re about to graduate and want some photos done at a really great price!

We’ve also started booking our fall sessions! This means you can book a family/couple session for mini session prices ($140) until 11/11. Each session is 30 minutes long with however many photos I end up getting throughout the session. These are so easy for families with little children – you can even bring your pup! Take advantage of this great price to get your holiday card photos done early!

As always, thank you so very much for keeping up with us. Without you guys, we wouldn’t be able to do the stuff that we love!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

Competition Lifting – Rob Guzman Style!

Happy Thursday, everyone! Where the beginning of the week felt like a whirlwind, the end of the week is moving a lot slower. I’m counting down the days until I start shooting my beloved Roadrunners and now that it’s close, time’s playing with me! Here’s hoping your weekend looks fruitful and you’re doing something you enjoy.

Today’s blog post is all about the badass owner of Warhouse Strength and Conditioning – Rob Guzman. You’ve seen this guy and his luscious beard on the blog before. I was lucky enough to shoot one of Warhouse’s in-house competitions and you can recognize his beard from anywhere. It’s even on shirts! Much like Josh, you’ve got to respect a guy that can grow that much facial hair and keep it looking nice.

Though he’s got great hair on his face,  Rob is also insanely talented. There are some people you can look at and know they’re an athlete. This guy is totally one of those people. He’s fit, he’s dedicated, and knows exactly what he’s doing with his craft. Walking in to watch him warmup, I noticed just how into the entire process he actually was. It’s a total joy getting to watch people do the stuff they love.

As you go through these pictures, you’ll be able to see Rob’s tenacity and effort. His form and technique are pretty cool in still form, and his routine is one you can’t forget. I hope you enjoy click through these as much as I did catching them and putting an edit to each one.

There you have it! He ended up taking first place home in his category, so you’re seeing the champion in action. Rob, I’ll gladly take your photos whenever you’re competing. These are cool shots and watching you do your thing is most excellent!

We’re currently still offering $50 off all of our sessions. This deal ends 8/31, and starting September, we’re getting very booked up and very busy with with UTSA goodness. If you’re wanting to plan a family session, grabbing your slot now would be the best decision – you can take advantage of the discount and make sure you get a date.

I’ve also decided to do my fall minis a little differently. Instead of having a couple dates to book, I’ll be taking any date through November 1. These mini sessions are $140, 45 minutes and all edited images (this usually falls between 30-50, depending on how quickly we’re able to move through the session.) I think this will be more fun for everyone and allow for multiple locations in the San Antonio area with their specific kiss of fall. If you decide to book with us before 8/31, we’ll add an extra $10 off. That means a $140 becomes $80!

Lastly, we’re finally opening up our new sports photography packages. I spoke to multiple youth sports league coaches and got some insider information on what packages like this should consist of. So – these team action photography packages are new and improved, focusing on game play photos and portraits! If you’re interested in booking us for your season or some games within the season, shoot us a message! I can’t wait to work with all the different athletes throughout the year.

Thanks for following along! This wouldn’t be real for us without all the people viewing and booking our services. It means the world to be able to do this sort of job for amazing people!

Until the next time, friends! Keep on adventuring…

Weightlifting in Black & White

Happy Saturday, my friends! My pops & I get up early in the mornings to get a run in, and Saturday seems to be the most peaceful. I can catch up on my edits, I watch an episode or two of whatever show I’m watching, and relaxing on the couch with my puppers. When there’s nothing going on, it’s one of the best things ever! Today, I’m coming at you guys with something pretty cool.

I occasionally throw in a black and white photo to my collections, but I don’t usually do a whole gallery in it – but that’s changing today! My good friend Gabe is a beast in the weight room, so I thought doing some weightlifting stuff in black & white of him would be awesome. It doesn’t hurt that the weight room on campus is equipped with some nice stuff and good lighting. Spending the time getting these shots was totally worth it & guys – this collection is one of my favorites!

As a kinesiology nerd, it was cool to capture mechanics in all different forms on camera. Working out is both the most self-confidence inducing and unflattering thing all at once. A person can’t really hide bad form and position when it comes to this kind of stuff. As I went through them, I think that was the coolest part – catching the little intricacies & chinks in the kinetic chain.

When you go through these, a lot of the shots are the little details I thought were the most interesting. There are two types of lifts that I shot – upper & lower body. Pay special attention to muscle definition and depth of movement. I tried my hardest to catch the lift in its most purest form – & I hope it shows!

Check out some of my favorites below!
